Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking an experienced driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, while supporting the sales process.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, operate tractors and trailers, manage documentation, and ensure safety and DOT compliance in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role requires physical fitness, ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and commitment to safety, with training provided.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A with double/triple and hazmat endorsements required.
• At least 1 year experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT FMC regulations (391).
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• For LCV operation in listed states, meet LCV qualification.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination or straight trucks as required.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems to dispatch.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business and give leads to sales.
• May be required to perform tire chaining; may perform road driver or dock duties as needed.
• Comply with all laws, regulations, and company policies.
