Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dedicated driver based in Indiana to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers while supporting the selling process.

You will operate tractor-trailer combinations, perform pre-trip inspections, and ensure safe, compliant transport of goods. The role emphasizes customer service, adherence to DOT regulations, proper documentation, and potential opportunities to generate additional business leads for sales.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• One year of driving experience in the last three years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT requirements under FMC regs 391.
• Ability to perform basic math and counts.
• Clear written and verbal communication for docs and peers.
• Able to lift up to 100 pounds; sit, bend, climb.
• Independent work ability or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight in trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Repair damaged freight when needed and complete required reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations.
• Collect freight charges if required and maintain docs.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or equipment issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and generate leads.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• May assist with road driver or dock duties as needed.
