Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is hiring a Class A CDL driver responsible for pick-up and delivery between service centers and customers. You will support the sales process and manage freight movement with a focus on safety and compliance.

The role requires operating various tractor-trailers, performing pre-trip inspections, and securing loads. You will interact with customers, document freight charges, and adhere to DOT rules while seeking additional business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Must possess one year experience within the last three years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) based on hiring standards.
• Must meet all DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR parts 383 and 391.
• Long combination vehicles (LCV) operations in specified states require LCV qualification/certification.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and training, work independently or as a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and dollies.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials rules and procedures.
• Collect and document freight charges payments when required.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or problems.
• Communicate with customers to arrange pickups/deliveries and solicit additional business.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Ask for additional business and pass leads to sales.
