Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers while supporting the selling process.

The role requires a Class A CDL with hazmat/tank endorsements (automatic transmission allowed) and either 1 year of recent experience or completion of the Driver Development Course, with MVR and DOT compliance. Duties include pre-trip inspections, loading/unloading, securing loads, and documenting activity.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements.
• One year experience in last three years or completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must possess acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• DOT regula­tory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds several times a week.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles/triples and straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and generate sales leads.
