Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist II in the National Catastrophe Property - Personal Lines group. This field-based role supports major catastrophe events nationwide, including hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and floods, with extensive travel (up to 80%, often on short notice) to assess property damage and guide policyholders through the claims process.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, empathy, and the ability to work independently in dynamic disaster environments.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Xactimate Level 1 certification within 1 year and Level 2 within 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation
• Special Investigations, Subrogation as needed
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards while ensuring timely resolutions
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process
