Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Field Claims Specialist II for the National Catastrophe Property team in the United States. You will travel to catastrophe zones, assess damage, determine coverage, and guide policyholders through the claims process with empathy and precision.

You will conduct on-site inspections, resolve complex claims, write estimates in Xactimate, and manage end-to-end claims with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service orientation and empathy in high-stress situations.
• Experience handling claims end-to-end with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of insurance theory, contracts and coverage applications.
• Proficiency with Xactimate and ability to write estimates.
• Ability to work independently in field and manage a high volume of claims.
• CAT environment experience beneficial.
• Willingness to travel up to 80% for deployments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims from start to finish
• Determine policy coverage and prepare estimates using Xactimate
• Own the full lifecycle of claims, including reserving, supplements, and documentation
• Special Investigations, Subrogation as needed
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal standards while ensuring timely resolutions
• Provide proactive, consistent updates to customers throughout the claims process
