Job summary

Volunteers of America–Greater New York is seeking a Case Manager/Benefits Specialist to support formerly homeless clients in Permanent Supportive Housing across New York City. This role involves providing assistance with public assistance and disability benefits while closely coordinating with a specialized team.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree or equivalent experience and will engage in benefits assessments, offer advocacy, and conduct workshops to enhance client outcomes. Full-time employees benefit from a comprehensive package including Prescription Coverage and Paid Time Off.

Qualifications

• Experience helping low-income clients access and maintain benefits.
• Ability to conduct benefits assessments and document client progress.
• Skills in money management and budgeting coaching.

Responsibilities

• Conduct benefits assessments and provide individualized assistance to clients.
• Work with clients to document disabilities for SSI/SSD applications.
• Develop and deliver workshops on benefits and budgeting.
