Job summary

Barrow Brain and Spine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient intake, scheduling, and clinic operations at our Phoenix office. You will register patients, verify insurance, and prepare clinical notes for physicians, ensuring a smooth patient flow in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate holds a CAHEAP-accredited MA program, has 2+ years in a medical clinic, and demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited Medical Assisting program.
• Minimum two years experience in a medical clinic.
• Strong oral, written and telephone communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate schedules and patient information accurately.

Responsibilities

• Register new patients in AthenaOne and verify demographics and insurance.
• Ensure physicians have all notes, labs, and reports prior to patient arrival.
• Answer calls, triage when needed, and route to appropriate staff.
• Schedule appointments and manage calendar entries.
• Coordinate with physicians' schedules and assist team as needed.
• Obtain authorizations from insurance carriers.
• Enter appointments into Centricity and Outlook calendars.
• Prepare and run clinics and schedule outpatient testing.
• Make reminder calls to patients and greet visitors.
• Ensure accurate patient records and adjustments in the system.
• Coordinate referrals and prepare billing information for processing.
• Possess working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Provide cross-coverage and support to BBS staff as required.
