Job summary

Amgen is seeking a strategic cardiovascular account leader to assess and optimize our portfolio across hospital systems and ambulatory care networks. You will work with field teams, MSLs, and key decision‑makers to advance access and utilization while aligning with brand strategies.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree with 2+ years of sales or account management experience or Master’s with 4+ years.
  • 3+ years of account management and/or public payor experience preferred.
  • Advanced degree and 7+ years of healthcare sales or related experience preferred.
  • Cardiology, dyslipidemia or heart failure experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of cardiology practices and access environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and diagnose the current business environment in assigned accounts related to Amgen Cardiovascular products.
  • Plan and execute actions for success across assigned accounts.
  • Work internally through matrix teams and externally with customers to develop relationships and support portfolio performance and brand strategies.
  • Serve as strategic lead for assigned key accounts.
  • Execute compliant strategies to engage priority providers.
  • Ensure institutional availability across inpatient and ambulatory care settings.
  • Lead initiatives enabling sustainable institution/system utilization.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans aligned with cardiovascular business strategy.
  • Collaborate with field teams and medical science liaisons.
  • Meet with opinion leaders and decision‑makers in Cardiology, Lipidology, Pharmacy and P&T Committees.
  • Present MAC‑approved data/messages in compliance with governing policies.
  • Drive appropriate utilization of approved cardiovascular products and coordinate pull‑through and access.
  • Monitor account performance and market dynamics.
  • Identify barriers and coordinate pull‑through initiatives across field teams.
  • Coordinate home office engagement, approved programs, displays and hospital initiatives.
  • Build relationships with hospital pharmacy, clinical, quality and finance decision‑makers.
  • Coordinate with Access Specialists to support portfolio access.
  • Provide field intelligence and recommendations to Business Analytics, Brand and Market Access teams.

Job description

Requirements
  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience, or Master’s degree & 4 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience, or Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience
  • 3+ years of account management and/or public payor experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MBA, PharmD, etc.) and 7+ years of healthcare sales and/or marketing experience or related experience in buying processes and decision making
  • Clinic, hospital, dyslipidemia, heart failure, access environment, applicable competitors, and industry experience preferred
  • Cardiology experience, including dyslipidemia, heart failure and acute coronary syndromes, highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of the current environment and trends in community cardiology practices
  • Understanding of internal and external dynamics in dyslipidemia and heart failure
  • District Management Experience preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital committee structure, P&T process, treatment and discharge protocols, DRG and hospital reimbursement process
  • Functional knowledge of Medicare and Government agencies
  • Knowledge of payor systems
  • Knowledge of CMS policies and processes
  • Documented ability to work with sales force to resolve payor‑related issues
  • Leadership ability with a focus on influence, impact and leading without authority
  • Ability to identify key staff and departments influencing biopharmaceutical product utilization and maintain relationships with decision‑makers
  • Ability to identify and procure appropriate Amgen resources to achieve account objectives
  • Ability to analyze clinic economics/financial performance and varying data sources
  • Excellent networking, influencing, negotiation, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
