Qualifications

  • Doctorate or Master's with significant sales/account management experience.
  • 3+ years of account management/public payor experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of healthcare sales/marketing or related buying-decision experience preferred.
  • Experience in clinic, hospital, dyslipidemia, heart failure, access environments.
  • Cardiology experience including dyslipidemia, heart failure and ACS is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of hospital/ payer dynamics and CMS policies.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Assess and diagnose the current business environment in assigned accounts in relation to Amgen Cardiovascular products
  • Plan and execute actions for success in assigned accounts
  • Work internally through the matrix team and externally with customers to develop relationships and support portfolio performance and brand strategies
  • Serve as strategic lead for assigned key accounts
  • Ensure institutional availability across inpatient and ambulatory care settings
  • Lead implementation initiatives enabling sustainable institution/system utilization
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans aligned with cardiovascular business strategy
  • Collaborate with field teams and medical science liaisons
  • Meet with opinion leaders and decision-makers in Cardiology, Lipidology, Pharmacy and P&T Committees
  • Present MAC-approved data/messages in compliance with governing policies
  • Drive appropriate utilization of approved cardiovascular products and coordinate pull-through and access
  • Monitor account performance and market dynamics
  • Identify barriers and coordinate pull-through initiatives across field teams
  • Coordinate Amgen home-office engagement, approved programs, displays and hospital initiatives
  • Build relationships with hospital pharmacy, clinical, quality and finance decision-makers
  • Coordinate with Access Specialists to support portfolio access
  • Provide field intelligence, insights and recommendations to Business Analytics, Brand and Market Access teams
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree & 2 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience, or Master’s degree & 4 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience, or Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of sales experience and/or related account management experience
  • 3+ years of account management and/or public payor experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced degree (e.g. MPH, MBA, PharmD, etc.) preferred
  • 7+ years of healthcare sales and/or marketing experience or related experience in buying processes and decision making preferred
  • Clinic, hospital, dyslipidemia, heart failure, access environment, applicable competitors, and industry experience preferred
  • Cardiology experience, including dyslipidemia, heart failure and acute coronary syndromes, highly preferred
  • A solid understanding of the current environment and trends in community cardiology practices
  • Understanding of internal and external dynamics in dyslipidemia and heart failure
  • District Management Experience preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital committee structure, P&T process, treatment and discharge protocols, DRG and hospital reimbursement process
  • Functional knowledge of Medicare and Government agencies
  • Knowledge of payor systems
  • Knowledge of CMS policies and processes
  • Documented ability to work with sales force to resolve payor-related issues
  • Leadership ability with a focus on influence, impact and leading without authority
  • Ability to identify key staff and departments influencing biopharmaceutical product utilization and maintain relationships with key decision-makers
  • Ability to identify and procure appropriate Amgen resources to achieve account objectives
  • Ability to analyze clinic economics/financial performance and varying data sources
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, influencing, negotiation, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
