Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Glenview, IL, is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiovascular Medical Surgical Care Unit at Glenbrook Hospital. This part-time night-shift role (24 hours) supports RNs and LPNs with direct patient care, safety checks, and routine tasks to promote comfort and well-being.

The position emphasizes compassionate patient interactions, accurate documentation, and teamwork in a Magnet-recognized system.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions.
• Demonstrates concern for and commitment to the welfare of our patient and families.
• Eligible to work in the US; CNA training preferred; nursing clinical rotation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and visitors, answer call lights and phones, assist within the facility.
• Assist in safe patient handling, ambulation, and repositioning with Safe Patient Handling equipment.
• Provide basic nursing care (bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, positioning) under RN/LPN supervision.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and room setup; orient patients to room and hospital.
• Document patient care activities (vital signs, intake/output, etc.) and notify appropriate personnel.
• Support the nursing team with restocking equipment, linens, and supplies; respond to calls and paging.
