Job summary

Mercy Cardiology Clinic in Cedar Rapids, IA, is hiring for a Front Desk / Scheduling Clerk to support patient-centered scheduling and coordinate care workflows under licensed nursing supervision.

Responsibilities include handling calls, coordinating appointments, data entry from procedural records, and assisting with changes to patient orders. Strong computer and EMR skills, plus a healthcare background, are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of health care and/or secretarial experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Medical Assisting Diploma or related degree preferred.
• Medical Terminology strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and handles telephone communications accurately and timely.
• Coordinates scheduling patients.
• Completes data entry from procedural records in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Implements changes and assists with revisions on patient orders and requests.
• Organizes and prioritizes daily work effectively.
• Receives and directs visitors within the department as indicated.
• Navigates the electronic medical record efficiently, orders procedures and locates documentation as necessary.
• Promotes a positive and professional image, collaborates with healthcare team including physicians, nurses and discharge planners.
• Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
