Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of health care and/or secretarial experience preferred.
• Strong computer skills required.
• Medical Terminology strongly preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Medical Assisting Diploma, Associate of Applied Science Degree preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS required as specified per department guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Receives and handles telephone communications accurately and timely.
• Coordinates scheduling patients.
• Completes data entry from procedural records in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Implements changes and assists with revisions on patient orders and requests.
• Organizes and prioritizes daily work effectively.
• Receives and directs visitors within the department as indicated.
• Navigates the electronic medical record efficiently, orders procedures and locates documentation as necessary.
• Promotes a positive and professional image, collaborates with healthcare team including physicians, nurses and discharge planners.
• Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, incidents and injuries.
