Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician in New Jersey. You will provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision, participate in interdisciplinary care planning, and support patient safety initiatives.

The role requires completing relevant nursing assistant or patient care programs, BLS certification within 60 days, and strong teamwork. Starting rate is posted with potential for a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, and/or GED equivalent programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age and safety criteria.
• Ongoing communication with patients, nursing colleagues and other members of the health care team regarding patient's status and rendered care.
• Draws intravenous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric patients using proper aseptic collection techniques.
• Performs venipuncture for laboratory tests.
• Performs EKG for patients as directed.
• Assists in transport of patient to departments or units.
• Ensures room environment is prepared for admission.
• Provides direct hygiene and comfort care to patients including bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making.
• Assists patients with dressing/undressing and placing patient belongings in the appropriate bag labeled with completed property checklist.
• Provides post mortem care
• Identifies patient needs and modifies care for age, culture, language, etc.
