Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our hospital team in New Jersey. Under RN supervision, you will provide direct and indirect patient care, support the care plan, collect specimens, perform EKGs, and assist with admissions, meals, and daily activities.

You will work in a collaborative interdisciplinary team, emphasizing patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction while following standard procedures and maintaining equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Completion of one of the listed programs (CNA/MA/PCT) or Fundamentals of Nursing or an equivalent medical background.
• Ability to learn quickly, strong accountability, teamwork, and commitment to ongoing education.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age-related criteria and safety considerations.
• Communicate with patients, nursing staff, and other health care team members about patient status and care.
• Document vital signs and notify RN of abnormal results.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens; ensure proper labeling and transport.
• Perform EKGs and assist with readiness for procedures.
• Assist with patient transport, hygiene, meals, and daily activities.
• Support unit PI activities and contribute to safe discharge planning.
