Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Compliance Manager to own advisory for the Affirm card program, addressing marketing, onboarding, wallets, disputes, and servicing in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Operations. You will navigate EFTA, Reg Z/CARD Act, and UDAAP to ensure compliant, consumer-friendly experiences.

You will lead root-cause analysis, remediation, and regulatory readiness for exams and audits, while developing training and reference materials for ongoing compliance across card features.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a compliance advisory role within financial services with a Bachelor's degree (6+ years with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a PhD, or equivalent)
• Deep working knowledge of EFTA (Reg E) and TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act as applied to card products, plus familiarity with TISA (Reg DD) and UDAAP; hands-on experience with card network rules (Visa, Mastercard) is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and escalate only when needed
• Experience partnering with Product from early stages of a build in fast-paced environments
• Experience owning issues from root-cause to sustainable remediation
• Experience advising and building credibility with Product, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders
• Strong verbal and written communication ensuring complex regulatory issues are understood by non-compliance audiences
• Self-directed with strategic thinking and problem-solving; comfortable presenting to senior leadership
• Proactive in identifying problems and proposing practical solutions

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end compliance advisory for the Affirm card program across marketing, onboarding, wallets, disputes, and servicing
• Navigate novel regulatory questions under EFTA, Reg Z/CARD Act, and UDAAP with sound judgment
• Review and approve card marketing, disclosures, and UX for regulatory compliance
• Lead root-cause analysis and remediation for card compliance issues to durable fixes
• Coordinate with compliance testing, legal, and risk for regulatory exams and audits
• Maintain the card program's compliance risk assessment and control inventory
• Develop and maintain card-specific training and reference materials
• Serve as the go-to compliance expert on new card features across the lifecycle
