Job summary

CenterPoint Energy, Inc. seeks a Contracts Lead – Capital Projects to source, draft, negotiate and administer EPC contracts across a portfolio of capital projects.

This role supports pre-award, kickoff and execution phases within the EPC contracting team, coordinating contract commitment documents and ensuring alignment with project objectives. You will work with Legal and procurement, lead market bidding, manage risk, and deliver contract milestones on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or Supply Chain is required.
• Five+ years of capital project contracting and supply chain experience.
• Experience with EPC/construction services contract bidding and negotiation.
• Experience with source-to-pay software such as Coupa, SAP Ariba, or Ivalua.

Responsibilities

• Develop baseline EPC documents to source and award new work scopes in the program with select EPC Partner(s).
• Coordinate with project controls to process changes to core Exhibits and contract Attachments (Deliv Lists, Milestones, Targets etc).
• Participate in ongoing project status meetings and document contracting actions.
• Identify actions for commercial risks and provide support to mitigate priority issues.
• Engage EPC partners to identify issues early and ensure corrective action.
• Provide contracting progress/status reports to project leadership and drive project scope formation and related documents.
• Partner with Legal to structure and finalize complex commercial agreements and mitigate contract risk.
• Lead market quotation, qualification and bidding processes in compliance with procedures.
• Coordinate with EPC and company procurement requirements, related to EPC performance of purchasing and materials management scope of work.
• Prepare and track evaluations, award recommendations, selection decisions and contract approvals per requirements.
• Monitor and drive contract completion and closeout activities.
