Job summary

Texas School for the Deaf seeks a Technology Support Specialist to provide first-line technical assistance for staff, students, and campus devices. You will support Apple macOS/iOS and Windows, manage end-user accounts, and assist with classroom and dorm tech.

This 12-month, 40-hour-per-week role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and hands-on experience; sign language training is offered to reach intermediate SLPI.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer information systems, MIS, IT or related field.
  • One year of professional work experience supporting technology.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Apple (macOS/iOS) and Windows in work/educational environment.
  • Sign Language: participation in classes to reach INTERMEDIATE SLPI.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct customer service and technical support for staff and students regarding hardware, software, Windows, macOS, and iOS; handles helpdesk tickets.
  • Assists with setup, imaging, configuration, and deployment of Apple/Windows devices using MDM tools (e.g., Jamf).
  • Configures technology across classrooms, offices, and dorms including displays and VOIP/Video Phones.
  • Installs, tests, maintains hardware/software and network cabling; troubleshoots OS issues.
  • Manages standard user accounts (password resets, provisioning, drive mapping) across Google Workspace and directory services.
  • Keeps accurate records of equipment deployment and inventory; follows security protocols.
