Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager in leading the daily campus store operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will drive business results by developing teams, merchandising, inventory management, and campus relationships.

This role provides hands-on leadership across all store departments, coaching staff, and ensuring retail standards while supporting a culture of service excellence.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail experience with leadership preferred.
• Experience with retail operations including merchandising and inventory management.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily sales floor operations by delivering exceptional customer service and coaching team members.
• Oversee daily store operations with Manager-on-Duty duties and ensure standards.
• Recruit, hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop store team members.
• Drive sales and performance by analyzing trends and controlling expenses.
• Build relationships with customers, campus partners, and team members.
• Develop expertise across departments and provide leadership in assigned areas.
• Support merchandising, inventory, stock replenishment, and order fulfillment.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
