Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to partner with the Store Manager in leading the campus store. You will oversee daily operations, drive sales, manage inventory, and develop a high-performing team to deliver an exceptional campus retail experience.

Collaborate with campus partners, coach staff, and ensure outstanding customer service while supporting the store’s business results.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Experience with merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
• Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with retail technology and basic MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily sales floor operations and coach team members to deliver a customer-first experience.
• Oversee daily store operations with Manager-on-Duty duties and implement company initiatives.
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop store team members; schedule and give feedback.
• Analyze business trends, manage controllable expenses, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Build relationships with customers and campus partners while resolving issues professionally.
• Develop expertise across departments and provide leadership in merchandising and inventory.
