Barnes & Noble College is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help lead the campus store by partnering with the Store Manager. You will develop teams, drive operational excellence, and deliver an exceptional customer experience across Course Materials, General Merchandise, Café/Convenience, and Trade Books.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of retail experience with at least one year in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Experience with retail operations including merchandising, inventory management, and customer service.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills; ability to motivate and develop others.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily sales floor operations by delivering exceptional customer service and coaching team members.
• Partner with Store Manager to oversee daily store operations and execute company initiatives.
• Recruit, hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop store team members.
• Drive sales and operational performance by analyzing trends and managing controllable expenses.
• Develop relationships with customers, campus partners, and team members; resolve customer concerns.
• Ensure merchandising, inventory accuracy, and store presentation are maintained; champion a clean, safe store environment.
