  • Apply empathetic, trauma-informed, and culturally competent communication to resolve interpersonal disputes, assist students in distress, and de-escalate complex situations.
  • Support an inclusive living-learning environment by encouraging compliance with college policies through engagement, fair treatment, and education rather than punitive enforcement.
  • Conduct thorough preliminary inquiries into incidents, gathering facts with objectivity and discretion. Utilize advanced Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and report-writing tools to generate accurate, objective, and timely incident logs.
  • Support central dispatch operations, assist with emergency notifications, and contribute to the hands-on training and onboarding of new personnel as needed.

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations with excellent judgment and discretion.

  • Cultural competency and sensitivity, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with a broad spectrum of individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Possesses strong people skills, patience, and a willingness to assist others, with a perceptive and empathetic approach.

  • Technical Aptitude: Proficiency with computers, mobile technology, database management, and electronic reporting tools.
  • Prior experience in community service, non-sworn security, higher education, customer service, or emergency response is welcomed but not required; comprehensive departmental training will be provided.
