Job summary

Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA is seeking a Dispatcher for Campus Safety to serve as the initial contact for emergencies and campus inquiries. This 11pm–7am shift, five days per week (off Tue/Wed), requires calm, professional handling of calls and rapid coordination with police, fire, and security teams.

You will monitor alarms and cameras, use IMC CAD to document incidents, and assist with community outreach while upholding confidentiality and diversity commitments.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent.
• Related experience in law enforcement, security, or dispatching.
• Strong problem-solving, time-management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multitasked environment.
• Sensitivity to issues of confidentiality.
• Commitment to, experience with, and/or ability to work effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answers emergency lines, business lines, and multiple college operator lines.
• Collects information from a diverse set of calling parties and walk-ins; disseminates to appropriate entities.
• Uses CJIS/IMC systems to respond to information requests from on-duty officers.
• Monitors fire, intrusion, panic alarms, and campus cameras.
• Activates the emergency mass notification system as directed.
• Records details in the CAD system; information is often highly confidential.
• Reviews logs, postings, training, emails, and CJIS outputs at shift start and during shift.
• Assists officers with community engagement activities.
• Dispatches emergencies and non-emergency incidents requiring fire, medical, or police response.
