Job summary

Wellesley College is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls 24/7. You will coordinate responses via radio, phone, and other systems, maintaining CAD status and monitoring alarms while delivering excellent customer service to students, staff, visitors, and the campus community.

The role requires a high school diploma and previous customer service experience; one year in a public safety environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous customer service experience required.
• At least one year experience in a public safety environment preferred (i.e. police, fire, EMS, security, dispatch).
• Higher education experience preferred
• Must attend required 40 hours dispatcher training

Responsibilities

• Processes calls regarding emergency and non-emergency situations in a 24/7/365 operation.
• Handles calls for service via radio, telephone and other electronic means.
• Maintains the status of Public Safety personnel on shift or special assignment within CAD.
• Monitors intrusion alarms and fire surveillance systems.
• Interacts with the Wellesley College community (students, parents, visitors, faculty, staff) and ensures appropriate response.
