Job summary

Omaha Public Schools in Omaha, NE is seeking a Lead Travel Kitchen Assistant (backup) to support meal prep, service and sanitation for students and staff. 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily; travel to other schools as needed; uniform allowance and shift meals included.

Requires a high school diploma, excellent attendance, basic math, and food safety knowledge. Benefits included; continuous local travel and immediate start offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent attendance and work record required.
• Food service experience preferred.
• Basic arithmetic for money, weight, volume, and distance.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and HACCP basics.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to engage with a diverse student body and staff.
• Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, service, and storage.
• Assist with reports and daily tasks; cross-cover as needed.
• Interact with diverse students and staff in a positive manner.
• Promote service excellence and manage portions and pricing.
• Follow approved menu protocols and safety practices.
• Train in kitchen areas to support operations.
