Job summary

North High in Omaha, Nebraska is hiring a Kitchen Helper for the 26-27 school year, a 10-month position with an approximately 7-hour day from 7:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday.

The role assists with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students and reports to the Kitchen Manager. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance and an excellent retirement plan.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.
• Required upon hire to take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others.
• Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
• Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals and portions, assists with cooking and baking as assigned.
• Cleans equipment and performs kitchen cleaning duties.
• Assists with miscellaneous food service tasks, including potential cashier duties and stocking.
• Serves prepared food to students.
• Adapts to changes and handles other essential tasks as assigned.
• Interacts positively with students, staff and kitchen supervisors.
