Job summary

Cornell University's Cornell Information Technologies is seeking an IT Field Services Technician II to support installing, maintaining, and repairing campus network infrastructure across multiple sites.

The role offers hands-on work, collaboration with experienced engineers, and a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule after onboarding. A valid NYS driver's license is required, with in-state licensing within 30 days for newcomers.

Qualifications

• Experience installing, repairing, and maintaining wired data, wireless data, voice, and special‑purpose network systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete IT service orders for data network and voice infrastructure moves, adds, changes, and repairs.
• Gather equipment, tools, and supplies and coordinate with local IT staff and customers.
• Perform work in CIT standards, industry standards, and OSHA regulations.
• Assist in installation and configuration of data network and voice electronics (switches, access points, voice handsets, UPS).
• Troubleshoot performance issues and outages with senior technicians and engineering teams.
• Assist in pulling, splicing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber cabling with proper labeling.
