Job summary

Cornell University seeks an IT Field Services Technician II to support installation, maintenance, and repair of Cornell’s wired, wireless, and voice network infrastructure across campus. You will work with experienced engineers and technicians in a dynamic university environment, with a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule after onboarding.

The role requires a valid NYS driver's license and the ability to obtain one for out-of-state applicants within 30 days.

Qualifications

Associate degree with up to one year or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience installing, repairing, and maintaining wired data, wireless data, voice, and special-purpose network systems.
Familiarity with data networking, telecomm, and structured wiring.

Responsibilities

Complete IT service orders for data network and voice infrastructure moves, adds, changes, and repairs.
Gather equipment, tools, and supplies and coordinate with local IT staff and customers.
Install and configure data network and voice electronics including switches, access points, handsets, and UPS units.
Troubleshoot performance issues and outages and coordinate with senior staff or engineers for solutions.
Assist in pulling, splicing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling per designs and label/install properly.
