Job summary

The College of DuPage, located near Chicago, seeks a Front Desk Assistant (PT) for the Carol Stream center. You will greet visitors, answer questions, register students, assist with Internet registration, and coordinate appointments with counseling services.

Responsibilities include maintaining security, relaying center information, and directing visitors to appropriate resources. Must pass background check; part-time schedule includes early morning shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Some college coursework and customer service training preferred.
• One year of customer service experience required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
• Some knowledge of Windows, MSOffice and keyboard skills required.

Responsibilities

• Establish a welcoming atmosphere by greeting people in a friendly, caring manner.
• Assist students, community members, faculty and staff with questions and concerns, in person and over the phone.
• Register students in person and by telephone.
• Provide assistance with Internet registration and e-permits for late registration and withdrawals.
• Schedule counseling/advising appointments and make reminder calls to students.
• Provide emergency assistance according to policies and notify the Center Supervisor and other College offices of emergencies.
• Maintain effective communication with students, instructors and community patrons regarding center information.
• Provide referrals to other College of DuPage services and individuals.
