Job summary

The Potomac School in McLean, VA is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead the campus facility management team, ensuring clean, safe, and healthy learning environments for students, staff, and visitors.

The role focuses on strategic planning, budget oversight, vendor management, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while delivering reliable services across buildings and grounds.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in facility management (educational, industrial, commercial, or office) with operational experience preferred.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing exempt and non-exempt staff.
• Experience with annual facility budgets and budget adherence.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
• Experience with PPRRSM budgeting and administration.
• APPA educational facilities management program experience a plus.
• Proven ability to lead a team and excellent customer service.
• Strong computing skills including a CMMS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversees facility management services including building and grounds, janitorial, and event logistics.
• Sets strategic objectives and manages operations to support school goals.
• Develops facilities maintenance plans and manages contracts and vendors.
• Ensures compliance with environmental and safety regulations (OSHA).
• Leads supervisors and staff with a culture of service and stewardship.
• Manages budgets and CMMS reporting; tracks variances.
