Job summary

The Student Union, Inc. at San Jose State University is seeking an Events and Programs Assistant to help plan, organize, and execute campus-wide events, including equipment setup and participant supervision.

Under supervision of the Manager of Events and Programs, you will provide customer service, enforce policies, attend staff meetings, and contribute to program assessment while fostering an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills and a welcoming demeanor.
• Ability to communicate clearly with diverse staff and attendees.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced events environment.
• Awareness of safety protocols and incident reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and execution of campus-wide events, including setup/teardown and check-in processes.
• Provide inclusive, welcoming customer service for attendees.
• Communicate effectively with staff and patrons.
• Enforce facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Be familiar with emergency protocols and participate in drills/procedures.
• Attend meetings for the internal Events and Programs committee.
• Complete a self-evaluation each semester as required.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings, and workshop camps.
• Support the Information Center by working at least 1 Information Center shift per week.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
