Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus at least two years of managerial experience in a commercial kitchen.
• A degree or certificate from an accredited culinary school is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, leadership, self-motivation and organization are required.
• Food Handler certificate from San Diego County is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily kitchen operations.
• Manages and develops all kitchen staff, including hiring, terminating, and disciplining employees; sets priorities and directs training.
• Operates, maintains, and cleans kitchen equipment according to sanitation guidelines.
• Develops menu items responding to customer needs and profitability goals.
• Ensures compliance with policies, laws and safety standards; manages inventory and costs.
• Maintains relationships with customers, vendors and university personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.
