Job summary

University of Texas at Austin seeks a Dining Assistant Manager to oversee daily dining operations at UT Main Campus, directing floor operations, coordinating with kitchen and service staff, and ensuring high-quality service and safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of management experience in food service, with strong leadership, training, and budgeting abilities. 40-hour weeks with full benefits are offered on campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, food and nutrition, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of management experience in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
• Experience with operating a standard kitchen.
• Ability to complete and maintain Food SafetyTraining required by University Housing and Dining.
• Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining cash handling training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily service operations to ensure quality, safety, cleanliness and customer satisfaction; act as manager-on-duty during shifts.
• Lead and develop dining team including interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance reviews.
• Support customer-first culture by engaging with students and guests; implement dining promotions and events.
• Monitor food cost, labor, and inventory; use FoodPro for forecasting, ordering, production planning, and cost evaluation.
• Communicate clearly with staff and campus partners; uphold UHD values and a positive dining environment.
