Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Dining Assistant Manager to oversee daily service in a large residential dining facility. You will manage staff, ensure food quality, sanitation, and guest satisfaction while aligning with UHD 5-Star standards.

This role requires leadership across full-time and part-time teams, strong communication, and the ability to monitor budgets, inventories, and safety training; you will partner with culinary and campus teams to deliver an exceptional dining

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in business, food and nutrition or related field.
• At least 2 years of management experience in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
• Experience operating a standard kitchen.
• Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training.
• Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining cash handling training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily service operations, ensuring consistent food quality, safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction; act as manager-on-duty during shifts and coordinate with staff.
• Lead dining team of full-time, part-time, student, and temporary employees; provide coaching, onboarding, scheduling, and performance reviews.
• Support a customer-first culture; be visible during service, resolve concerns, and collaborate on promotions and student engagement.
• Assist in monitoring food cost, labor, and inventory; use FoodPro for forecasting, ordering, production planning, and cost evaluation; support budget discussions.
• Communicate clearly with staff and campus partners; uphold UHD 5-Star standards and represent university values.
