Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is hiring a Lead Food Service Worker at UT MAIN CAMPUS. This role supports daily dining operations, leads staff during meals, ensures high-quality food preparation and compliance with safety standards.

The successful candidate will train staff, manage serving areas, handle POS transactions, and maintain cleanliness and inventory. 40 hours weekly with shift differential and benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working and preparing food in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional facility.
• Experience training or leading staff in a restaurant, commercial, or institutional food facility.
• Experience with operating standard kitchen equipment.
• Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training required by University Housing and Dining.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Lead dining staff by directing meal service and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently; train staff on safety and service.
• Prepare, cook, and serve meals in high-volume environments; follow recipes and maintain product knowledge.
• Provide excellent customer service; operate POS and process transactions.
• Monitor food quality and safety; manage temperatures and prevent cross-contamination.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchens and dining areas; restock supplies and equipment.
• Follow UHD policies and complete required food safety training and cash-handling procedures.
