Job summary

The Halal Shack is seeking an Assistant General Manager for Campus Restaurant Operations in Charlottesville. You will lead a high-volume, semester-based campus dining operation with an extended summer break and a clear path to grow into general manager roles.

You’ll recruit, train, and coach a front- and back-of-house team, oversee daily operations, and manage labor and food costs. This role emphasizes hospitality, team leadership, and business results on a campus schedule.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of restaurant management experience with increasing responsibility.
• At least 2 years leading supervisors or large hourly teams.
• Strong leadership, financial acumen, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Genuine commitment to hospitality and delivering an outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team by recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and retaining a strong front- and back-of-house staff.
• Run the operation, maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and inventory.
• Support the business by managing labor, food cost, controllable expenses, and using data to drive results.
