Job summary

The Associate Plan Check Engineer position with CSG Consultants, Inc. is responsible for the technical review of construction documents related to residential and multi-family construction.

You will evaluate drawings, calculations, soils reports and other documents for conformance with the California Building Standards Codes and Reference Standards, using engineering judgment to ensure life-safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years reviewing plans for conformance to the California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Possession of certification as an Engineer-in Training is required; PE or structural background is preferred.
• ICC Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing Plans Examiner Certification or CASp Certification as required.
• Competency in using Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Teams, Zoom to perform responsibilities.
• Ability to interface with internal and external customers and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out technical review of construction documents for residential and multi-family projects.
• Review drawings, calculations, soils reports for conformance with CA Building Standards Codes.
• Assess design adequacy for life-safety using engineering judgment.
• Read and interpret maps, diagrams, electronic plans and specs for compliance.
• Prepare and present oral and written plan check reports.
• Maintain relationships with agencies, architects, contractors and the public.
• Work toward additional ICC certifications as related to duties.
