Job summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Principal Plan Check Engineer to lead technical reviews of construction documents across residential, multifamily, commercial, and industrial projects in California.

You will supervise at least 2 plan check engineers, mentor staff, and coordinate with clients and jurisdictional staff while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the California Building Standards Codes and reference standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years reviewing plans for conformance to the California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• BA/BS in engineering from an accredited college or university; PE CA license required.
• ICC Building/Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Plans Examiner Certifications or CASp as required.

Responsibilities

• Technical review of construction documents for new residential, multifamily, commercial, industrial projects.
• Review drawings, calculations, soils reports for conformance with CA Building Standards Codes.
• Use engineering judgment to address life-safety and structural review requirements.
• Supervise a minimum of 2 Plan Check Engineers; mentor staff.
• Prepare and present oral and written reports; coordinate with clients and jurisdictional staff.
• Stay current on legal and technical developments in building codes.
• May assign and review workloads; represent department in meetings.
