Job summary

CSG Consultants, Inc. in Irvine, CA seeks an Associate Plan Check Engineer to perform technical review of residential and multi-family construction documents for code conformance under California Building Standards Codes. The role emphasizes engineering judgment to ensure life-safety and code compliance.

You will review drawings, calculations, soils reports, and other docs, interfacing with agencies and clients. Requires EIT with CA code knowledge; driving may be required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years reviewing plans for conformance to the California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Possession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required; PE or structural background preferred.
• ICC Building/Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing Plans Examiner Certification or CASp Certification
• Competency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam & Bluebeam Studios, Teams, Zoom for job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Review construction documents for residential and multi-family projects for conformance with California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• Read and interpret maps, construction diagrams, electronic plans, and specifications for code compliance.
• Prepare and present oral and written reports.
• Maintain relationships with government agencies, architects, contractors, engineers, and the public.
• Work under supervision and progress reviews; handle multiple projects and deadlines.
