Job summary
CSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Principal Plan Check Engineer to lead the technical review of construction documents for residential, multifamily, commercial, and industrial structures in California.
You will evaluate drawings, calculations, and soils reports for conformance with California Building Standards Codes and Reference Standards. The role requires extensive experience, a PE license in CA, and ICC/CASp certifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Current PE California license is required.
- 10+ years of plan review experience with CA Building Standards Codes.
- ICC Building/Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing Certifications or CASp as required.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical review of construction documents for conformance with CA Building Codes and Reference Standards.
- Review drawings, calculations, soils reports, and other documents for code compliance.
- Apply engineering judgment to assess life-safety and structural adequacy.
- Mentor and supervise Plan Check Engineers; coordinate with staff and clients.
- Prepare and present oral and written reports.
- Stay current on legal and technical developments in building construction.
