Job summary

State of Louisiana's Youth Challenge Program (YCP) seeks a Group Leader 2 to supervise up to nine Cadre/Group Leaders and over 300 Cadets, scheduling duties, tracking training dates, and ensuring platoon coverage. The role requires coordinating with Commandant, Assistant Commandants and Operations Supervisor to maintain discipline and program delivery.

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Louisiana National Guard in active or retired status, or honorably discharged.
• Minimum 23 years old.
• Non-commissioned Officer with rank CPL/Sgt/SSG and completed NCOES.
• Ability to work with at‑risk youth.
• Must have computer skills.
• Must complete CPIC within one year of hire.
• Must attend Cadre Course Part 1 and 2.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
• Must be able to work variable hours (nights, weekends, holidays).

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise up to nine Cadre/Group Leaders and 300 Cadets.
• Schedule and assign duties; track IDT and AT dates.
• Review PER documents; conduct counseling for Cadre.
• Maintain platoon coverage and discipline as needed.
• Coordinate with Commandant, Assistant Commandants and Operations Supervisor.
• Oversee development of Cadre and Cadets; manage training activities.
• Supervise movement of Cadets to classrooms, barracks, and activities.
• Maintain equipment and assist in instruction and SOP updates.
