Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a CAD Drafter III to join the Ground Support Development Engineering Services CAD Support team in Merritt Island, FL. You will develop, maintain, and release engineering drawings and datasets using Creo Parametric 12 and Windchill PLM for ground support equipment across launch‑related systems.

Responsibilities include leading design tasks, creating ECRs, supporting MBD datasets, and mentoring junior drafters, with a focus on safety, quality, and process improvements for

Qualifications

• 2-year AS degree in CAD/ME tech or 4-year BS in ME/Aerospace/Electrical or related field
• 5+ years in a technical design role
• Established expertise with Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM
• Experience creating fabrication and installation drawings for complex assemblies
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.100, Y14.5, Y14.41
• Experience managing large CAD assemblies and PLM workflows
• GD&T knowledge and ability to work autonomously

Responsibilities

• Own complex design tasks, subsystems, and product definition datasets using Creo Parametric 12 and Windchill PLM
• Develop and maintain advanced MBD datasets; champion MBD adoption
• Lead mechanical/structural design efforts including steel frameworks and lifting/rigging systems
• Drive electrical system design including enclosure assemblies and cable routing
• Author Engineering Change Requests and manage Change Notices in Windchill
• Mentor junior drafters and review drawings during release
• Support schedule and budget planning through technical input
• Leverage AI-assisted design tools and automation to improve productivity
