Job description

Adult Services supports people across Milton Keynes and works with colleagues, residents, councillors and partner organisations to help deliver effective local services. You'll be an important first point of contact and provide reliable, efficient business support in a busy working environment. You'll respond to enquiries, coordinate appointments, maintain accurate records and help ensure that statutory work is completed on time. You'll handle sensitive and confidential information, so you'll need to work with care, tact and discretion. This is a rewarding role for someone with business support experience who enjoys helping people, solving problems and keeping essential services running smoothly. You'll work flexibly across Adult and Neighbourhood Services according to service needs.

  • Act as an initial point of contact, respond to enquiries and direct people to the most appropriate colleague or service.
  • Organise, record and share sensitive or complex information while maintaining confidentiality and accurate records.
  • Complete a range of administrative and financial tasks, including managing service contacts, arranging appointments, updating systems, preparing case files and processing enquiries.
  • Arrange meetings and produce clear, accurate minutes and action points.
  • Provide guidance and support to Business Support and Housing Apprentices as they develop their knowledge and skills.
  • Use Microsoft Office and other digital systems to organise information, analyse data, solve problems and respond to changing service priorities. A Level 3 Business Administration qualification or equivalent relevant experience is essential.
  • You’ll bring experience of providing business support in a busy and complex working environment.
  • Clear and confident communication skills will help you produce accurate minutes, reports and written information.
  • Strong digital skills are important, including experience of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and the ability to learn new systems confidently.
  • Sound judgement and good organisational skills will enable you to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • A dedicated, respectful and collaborative approach will help you work successfully with colleagues, residents and partner organisations.

Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle To be successful in this role, you'll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we'll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use. We're unable to confirm an appointment until these documents are received. Basic DBS As part of the pre‑employment checks, should you be offered the role, we'll carry out a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
