Full-Time
Starting at $75,000 annually + Commission
We are hiring an experienced Business Development Executive to drive new business growth within the trucking, transportation, warehousing, and logistics industries.
This is a hands‑on sales position for a proven hunter who is comfortable generating business from the ground up through cold calling, outside sales, in‑person canvassing, customer visits, referrals, networking, and relationship building.
The ideal candidate already understands the Southern California logistics market and knows how to identify potential customers, connect with decision‑makers, uncover transportation and warehousing needs, and turn new opportunities into long‑term accounts.
If you have a track record of bringing in new logistics business and enjoy being out in the market building relationships, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Generate new business for trucking, transportation, warehousing, distribution, and logistics services.
- Prospect new customers through cold calling, email outreach, in‑person canvassing, referrals, networking, and customer visits.
- Identify and develop relationships with manufacturers, distributors, importers, exporters, shippers, warehouses, distribution centers, and other potential customers.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified sales opportunities.
- Schedule and conduct customer meetings, site visits, and sales presentations.
- Understand each prospect's transportation, shipping, storage, and distribution needs.
- Work with operations and management to develop solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Prepare and present pricing, proposals, service recommendations, and logistics solutions.
- Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through negotiation, closing, implementation, and account launch.
- Follow up consistently with prospects throughout the sales cycle.
- Negotiate pricing and service agreements while maintaining appropriate margins.
- Develop long‑term relationships with new and existing customers.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and increase revenue within existing accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of prospecting activity, meetings, opportunities, and sales progress.
- Meet or exceed established goals for outbound activity, customer meetings, new accounts, revenue, and gross profit.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5+ years of business development, outside sales, or logistics sales experience within trucking, transportation, warehousing, 3PL, freight, or a related industry.
- Proven experience generating new business rather than solely managing existing accounts.
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales, revenue, or gross‑profit goals.
- Strong cold‑calling and outbound prospecting experience.
- Comfortable conducting in‑person prospecting, canvassing, site visits, and customer meetings.
- Experience developing relationships with logistics, transportation, supply chain, warehouse, or shipping decision‑makers.
- Understanding of trucking, transportation, warehousing, distribution, or 3PL services.
- Ability to identify customer challenges and present practical logistics solutions.
- Strong sales presentation, negotiation, closing, and follow‑up skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Self‑motivated and comfortable managing an independent sales territory and pipeline.
- Ability to collaborate with operations, pricing, and management teams.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for customer visits and prospecting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships within the Southern California or Inland Empire logistics market.
- Experience selling services such as FTL, LTL, local trucking, drayage, dedicated transportation, warehousing, distribution, transloading, or other 3PL solutions.
- Familiarity with logistics pricing, gross margins, and profitability.
- Experience building a book of business from the ground up.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
Compensation
Starting base salary of $75,000 annually, plus commission.
Compensation may vary based on experience, industry knowledge, sales background, and existing customer relationships.
