BJH is hiring for a Business Development Consultant. This is a hybrid position. We are looking for applicants who can build relationships with referrals. Some travel is required.

Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked among the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Its staff includes full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by residents, interns, fellows, and other medical professionals. Recognized for excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships with referring physicians, employers, and patients; collaborating with service lines to promote services; increasing patient referrals and admissions; and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain and strengthen relationships between referring physicians, nurses, hospitals, third-party payers, and the community by coordinating innovative quality continuing medical education programs, including teleconferences, videoconferences, and educational events.
  2. Support and assist the Strategic Workgroup in developing strategic analysis and marketing to increase awareness of the hospital's services and providers. Identify market opportunities related to hospital, physician, and managed care alignment, and recommend strategies. Support the implementation of strategies outlined in the long-range strategic plan.
  3. Identify and target appropriate physician practices to increase referrals to the hospital.
  4. Maintain and enhance relationships between the hospital, medical staff, and referring physicians. Evaluate patient satisfaction with service line directors and propose strategies for improvement. Aim to increase referrals and market share.
  5. Develop and maintain departmental databases for mailing lists and reporting. Engage in relationship-building activities through visits, phone calls, and electronic communications with key referring physicians, nurses, and hospitals.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2-5 years
