BJH is hiring for a Business Development Consultant. This is a hybrid position. We are looking for applicants who are able to build relationships with referrals. Some travel is involved.


Overview

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked among the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Its staff includes full-time academic faculty and community physicians from Washington University School of Medicine, supported by residents, interns, fellows, and other medical professionals. Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships with referring physicians, employers, and patients; collaborating with service lines to promote services; increasing patient referrals and admissions; and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintain and strengthen relationships with referring physicians, nurses, hospitals, third-party payers, and the community by coordinating innovative continuing medical education programs, including teleconferences, videoconferences, and educational events.
  2. Support the Strategic Workgroup in developing strategic analysis and marketing strategies to increase hospital awareness. Identify market opportunities related to hospital, physician, and managed care alignment; make strategic recommendations; support implementation of long-range strategic plans.
  3. Identify and target physician practices to increase referrals.
  4. Evaluate patient satisfaction and recommend strategies to improve satisfaction and market share, strengthening relationships between the hospital, medical staff, and referring physicians.
  5. Develop and maintain departmental databases for mailing lists and reporting; engage in relationship-building activities through visits, calls, and electronic communication with key stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2-5 years
