Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is seeking a full-time equipment operator to support heavy civil construction projects in the Southern Virginia region. You will operate excavators, loaders, dozers, and motor graders on multiple job sites, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety standards are followed.

The role requires adaptability to varying start times, willingness to perform manual tasks as needed, and a commitment to working outdoors across seasons.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment on job sites.
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screening.
• GPS/UTS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and motor graders.
• Perform general maintenance including greasing, checking fluid levels, and cleaning tracks.
• Conduct daily cleaning of equipment.
• Report deficiencies to foreman immediately.
• Be willing to perform manual labor related tasks to support projects.
• Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and co‑workers.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment (an onsite try‑out will be conducted).
• GPS/UTS experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.

Job Details

• Job Type: Full‑time, year‑round.

• Working Hours: Start times vary between 6:00AM and 7:00AM; overtime, nights and weekends may be required.
