Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to work on various job sites based in Lorton, VA. Primary duties include operating excavators, loaders, dozers, and motor graders, performing routine maintenance, and reporting deficiencies to the foreman.

The role requires outdoor work in all seasons, the ability to pass a pre-employment physical/drug screen, and a commitment to safety and teamwork on project sites. Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience running heavy equipment; onsite try-out will be conducted.
• GPS/UTS experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons.
• Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and motor graders.
• Perform general maintenance including greasing, checking fluid levels, cleaning tracks, and daily cleaning of equipment.
• Report deficiencies to the foreman immediately.
• Support projects with manual labor tasks as needed.
• Ensure company health and safety culture, policies, and requirements are met.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with customers and co‑workers.

Working Hours

Start varies between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required.
