Job summary

Jacobs in the United States is seeking a Building Mechanical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Design Department in the West Central region. You will design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and central utilities for water, wastewater, labs, and manufacturing facilities, collaborating with architects, engineers and technicians to meet project goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a PE license or ability to obtain within one year, with at least 5 years of

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • PE license required or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive building mechanical engineering and project delivery experience.
  • Strong data analysis, problem solving and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Design complete HVAC systems, including central plants and controls.
  • Design plumbing, fire protection, and utility systems for buildings.
  • Perform HVAC loads, duct/pipe sizing, energy analyses and code compliance.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specs, and basis of design reports.
  • Conduct field evaluations, prepare as-built drawings, and coordinate with team.
  • Lead meetings with clients and vendors and mentor junior engineers.
  • Manage project budgets and support field staff during construction.
