Job summary

Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is seeking a Stationary Engineer I/II (Building Engineer 1A) to inspect and maintain environmental systems across county facilities, including a correctional facility. The role involves operating heating/cooling/ventilation and related systems under supervision and advancing to Level II with license progress.

The position requires a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer’s License and a valid Class C driver’s license, with probationary period completion

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D Certificate.
• Six (6) months of the maintenance, repair, installation of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
• Must possess and maintain a Third (3rd) Class Stationary Engineer’s License as established by the Maryland Department of Licensing and Regulation, Board of Examining Engineers.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver’s license with no more than six (6) points.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, and leads subordinates in preventive maintenance of mechanical and non-mechanical systems.
• Operate building environmental systems (heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical).
• Review and complete documentation associated with daily performance.
• Assist shop and contract personnel with work at assigned buildings.
• Comply with MOSH/OSHA safety standards and agency rules.
